Advanced Air Charters, which is based in Hawthorne, California, has sought permission to operate as a commuter carrier. They applied to the U.S. Department of Transportation to begin scheduling passenger services in July, 2016.
This company is mainly known for air charter services and has been working closely with Surf Air and JetSmarter. Advanced Air Charters further owns twin turboprops and controls three others. It even manages three PC-12s.
In addition, Advanced Air Charters has decided to take further steps due to the demand for its services between Las Vegas McCarran and Hawthorne. This demand has caused it to change its Part 135 certification and hence the reason for applying for scheduled authority.
The new approval will allow this charter company to fly more roundtrips between Hawthorne and Las Vegas McCarran.
The scheduled operator permit is less restrictive than the charter operating permit. The former allows regular flights whereas the latter is mainly for one-off or short-term operations. The application process requires filling a form and submitting it together with the required payment. It needs to state the details of the aircraft that will be used for the flights. Other specific details during the application include the number of flights, flight dates and route.
